The Virgin Way. That’s how Virgin Group founder Richard Branson lives life. And it’s no different when it comes to his cruise line, Virgin Voyages.
In 2018, Virgin Group announced plans to build a new $179 million cruise terminal at PortMiami for Virgin Voyages.
Appropriately dubbed Terminal V, construction on the 100,000 square-foot terminal is expected to be completed by November 2021.
The terminal, located on the northwest side of the port, is designed by Miami-based Arquitectonica, the same architecture firm that designed American Airlines Arena and the Miami City Ballet.
The two-story stormproof glass facility will feature designated areas for VIP drop-offs, as well as ride-sharing and provisioning, all designed to provide a seamless shore-to-ship experience.
The firm designed the terminal’s rooftop to resemble a palm tree grove with pockets that allow natural light to flow into the building by day. At night, spotlight beams will display the red Virgin Voyages logo against the Miami skyline.
The cruise line’s first ship, Scarlet Lady, is adults-only and will sail from Terminal F starting in April until completion of Terminal V.
As with everything he touches, Branson wants to ensure that guests aboard his Scarlet Lady will be living their best lives.
Music is a fundamental element of the Virgin brand, and it is sure to be a part of each and every cruise. Depending on the date of the scheduled cruise, guests will be treated to entertainment by famous DJs at the Beach Club at Bimini as part of their voyage.
These specialty sailings will take place on the following dates:
- Diplo: Riviera Maya sailing on May 3; performance on May 7
- Mark Ronson: Mayan Sol sailing July 5; performance on July 9
- DJ MK: Mayan Sol sailing August 30; performance on September 3
- Sofi Tukker: Dominican Daze sailing December 6; performance on December 10
If you’d like to see a specific DJ listed on the schedule this year, book your trip now before the ship is sold out.
