Titanic Restaurant & Brewery was conceived, developed and registered by Kevin Rusk in December of 1995 as a Florida Corporation residing in Dade County, long before the popular movie was even in production. Based on the fact that Miami is the “cruise capital” of the world, Kevin wanted to tie the concept in to the cruise industry theme.
As breweries have traditionally tried to give an “edge” to their name, the moniker Titanic was a natural.
Numerous locations throughout the south Florida area were examined and ruled out. Conceptually speaking, the first site would be a proto-type for future Titanic brewpubs. Therefore, a prime location meant everything. After a detailed demographic analysis, a site at the apex of Coral Gables and South Miami was selected.
The concept of T.B.C. is a combination of three different, yet complimentary elements - a microbrewery, a seafood restaurant, and a showcase for live entertainment. With a name like Titanic and its’ obvious maritime accentuation, T.B.C. was earmarked to be a seafood restaurant. Because of the industrial aspect associated with brewing equipment, it was decided that T.B.C. would convey an industrial / marine appearance similar to that of the steam engine room of a huge ocean liner. To soften the experience, dark woods and deep colors were chosen for the color scheme.
