Labor Day in Miami is approaching and here in Florida it signifies our last hoorah before fall. Now that the kids are back to school, it could be a chance for parents to get away, as well as for couples who want to escape the mundane and hit the beach. We want to help ease your decision making, by sharing a few of the top boutique hotels in Miami Beach perfect for a weekend vacay or staycation.
The charming Casa Faena is settled at the corner of the Faena District on Collins Avenue, recently renovated to a beautiful Spanish style Inn. Casa Faena is part of the Faena family of hotels which extends to Argentina. As you walk in you'll be greeted by the most cordial staff with a glass of champagne. At the heart of the hotel, you'll find an atrium inspired by living spaces in the Hollywood Hills, the sunshine lights up the atrium surrounded by the guest rooms. South America meets American cuisine in Casa Faena's delightful cafe called (Not Your) Basic Latin Brunch. During our visit, we also enjoyed a half-priced evening cocktail during their daily cocktail hour at First Call, where they serve delectable small plates to kick off your night of fun. There is not a pool, however, sunbathers are able to catch rays in the rooftop beach loungers, plus get a view of the beach. Staying at Casa Faena may also allow you to use some of the amenities in the Faena Hotel about 100 feet away. Don't forget to take a stroll through the Faena District to see the art structures.
Blending sophistication and contemporary style, the Riviera South Beach is worth the trip. Located right on Miami Beach, the Riviera offers classic modern rooms, some including balconies. Should you want to go all out, check out their penthouse suite. Some of the amenities to love are the rooftop and courtyard pools, complimentary drinks nightly and amazing Cuban cuisine at Mas Cuba Cafe & Bar also specializing in the best-handcrafted mojitos on the beach. In case you need to bring your pets, they are welcomed and if you're looking to relax, head over to their chic sundeck lounge equipped with umbrellas & towels or make your way to the beach just steps away. The hotel recommends transporting via their shuttle from the airport. South Beach is a walking town, taxi or Uber drivers are plentiful. There's definitely a fun, romantic atmosphere at the Riviera Hotel which makes it a great stay for couples.
Another boutique hotel you don't want to miss is The Washington Park Hotel in South Beach, on Washington Ave. Comprised of three remodeled art deco buildings now make up an inviting complex with an outdoor pool, play area, and a cocktail bar. Since their slogan is 'where play happens' they definitely bring it, by providing free bike rentals for touring the town as well as a cart ride to and from the beach in the Tuk Tuk. Their inviting rooms have a crisp modern mid-century vibe with king and queen size beds available to choose from. The Washington Park staff is kind, friendly and readily willing to share all there is to know about the city such as Lincoln Road Mall, a popular outdoor shopping strip, less than a quarter-mile away. Couples, feel free to stay up late to play games like a life-size Jenga or Connect Four at the hotel courtyard. Not to forget, you may enjoy a continental breakfast with your room package. Yes, you can grab a cocktail all day, every day at the bar or have it delivered poolside. Does it get any better? Your stay does include free beach chairs & umbrellas. Speaking from our experience at Washington Park Hotel, the fun starts at check-in!
