Description
The iPaddle Miami presents "Critical Splash” a monthly bay clean up focused on the northern area of the Biscayne Bay Aquatic preserve.
Event Details
On every 3rd Friday of the month, a group of dedicated volunteers paddle through the bay to the islands and/or walk along the shore picking up trash. Plastic, styrofoam, furniture, aluminum, cigarette butts, wooden planks, glass, clothing and other other human-made refuse litter the bay and threaten the sensitive wildlife ecosystem that is so essential to keeping our city a beautiful place to live.
Volunteers should arrive at iPaddle Miami on or before 5.30PM where they are met by the Critical Splash eco-coordinator. From there, we branch out into shore-side and paddle teams - as needed - to clean up a specific part of our unique natural environment.
Gloves, bags and clean-up directions are provided. It can get hot, so iPaddle Miami and our other partners provide refreshments and energy snacks. Guests are encourged to bring their own kayaks, canoes, paddleboards - if they have them. Volunteers without boats can help with shoreside duties or rent an iPaddle kayak or paddleboard for a 50% discount less by making a two hour reservation from 5.45 - 7.45 for the day of the event and using the discount code criticalsplash.
With you by our side, we can counter the growing amount of trash in the Biscayne Biscay and make Miami even more beautiful in the process. We ask that volunteers make a donation of $15, all of which goes towards making grants to our non-profit clean-up partners efforts and other water-related charities.
