Swim Week arguably dates back as far as 1982, which was the advent of Miami's Swimwear Convention, SwimShow.

A number of production companies are behind the events, from Funkshion to Dive to Swim Miami to Art Hearts Fashion.
Although Mercedes-Benz served as a title sponsor for several years, in conjunction with IMG, the shows continue with strong local and international support.
Increasingly, Miami has made a name for itself as one of the world’s premiere destinations for swim and resort wear showcases and runway shows.
