Miami is home to excellent universities and college programs that bring in students from around the world, but hitting the books and getting good grades are not the only reasons they love coming to the Magic City. Beautiful beaches, outdoor events, and a notorious nightlife are just a few of the fun things this town has to offer; read about these and more in our college student’s guide to Miami!
Wynwood's Arts Scene
The Wynwood neighborhood delivers a unique combination of parties and urban art. Their famous murals, the Wynwood Walls, are the iconic background of countless social media pictures (the “Free Lolita” orca mural is my personal favorite), and the neighborhood’s popular pubs are a weekly destination for many students. Places such as Wood Tavern and El Patio Wynwood also feature live entertainment and a vibrant atmosphere for locals and out-of-towners.

Stunning Parks in Miami
One of my favorite things about Miami is the great number of parks you can explore. Nature preserves and coastal parks can be found all around the city like the Amelia Earhart Park in Hialeah, the North Shore Park & Youth Center in Miami Beach, and the Matheson Hammock County Park in Coral Gables. If you drive down to Key Biscayne, you might also appreciate visiting the Crandon Park Nature Center, which offers daily activities such as tennis, golfing, and eco-tours around the park’s different ecosystems.

Miami's Museums
Although life in the city can get quite busy, there’s always time to learn something new. Luckily for us, there are many museums in Miami where students can learn more about art, history, and science.
One of the most visited institutions is the Pérez Art Museum Miami with ongoing exhibits and special events that attract modern and contemporary art lovers. The Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science is perfect for those interested in learning more about the wonders of the universe with an aquarium, planetarium, and unique exhibits for you to enjoy. Additionally, the Coral Gables Museum and HistoryMiami Museum hold curious secrets about the Magic City's past.
Days and Nights Out in Miami Beach
A college student's guide to Miami wouldn't be complete without mentioning Miami Beach as it hosts some of the most picturesque beaches in Florida as well as entertaining watersports centers where you can rent flyboards, jet skis, and more! If you're a surfer, don't forget to check out the swell in South Pointe starting in September since there are usually some small, fun breaks everyone can enjoy. Those who want to do a little shopping can stop by the popular Lincoln Road Mall and get a delicious meal at one of the restaurants nearby. If you´re over 21 and want to get a taste of Miami´s nightlife, you'll also want to stop by a few of the neighborhood´s infamous clubs like LIV Miami and STORY Miami.
